Masters 2007 Photos

Sunday, April 15th, 2007

We went to the Masters again this year (like every other year) and I borrowed a Nikon D2Hs (well it said D2H on the EXIF data, but I guess it’s the D2Hs. I remember seeing D2H on the camera) and took some pictures. :) Most of the ones on the page (linked below) are taken with that SLR. The others on there were taken with a Sony Cybershot. (I forgot the model, sorry!) Enjoy!

I’m 18! Yay.. I don’t feel any different. Oh well. I get to go out to eat tonight (well.. it’s 12:07 AM… I’ll go to sleep and wake up and then it’ll be tonight I guess.. whatever) and maybe I’ll get some cake. :)

Happy Birthday to ME (Well… Almost)

In less than 12 hours, I will be 18. Funny how I turn 18 on Friday the 13th. :) I hope nothing bad happens ;).

Folding@Home Update

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

I have been following the Cure@PS3 fiasco for a week now. The project never did reach a petaflop per second, but it came extremely close (within 10 teraflops per second). Currently, the numbers are fluctuating greatly. Eventually, the project hopes to reach a petaflop. You may continue to see the project’s stats on the project’s OS statistics page.

Recently, Vijay Pande mentioned that the team working on the Folding@Home client for the Playstation 3 is working on optimizations of the code to squeeze out more power from each Playstation 3. Considering that there are currently over 20,000 Playstation 3 units folding, any small optimization will greatly speed up the project. A change of even a second per unit could (ideally, not practically) save over 20,000 seconds. Vijay also stated that they were researching delving into using the Playstation 3 units to fold work units similar to those that the SMP (Symmetric Multiprocessing) client handles.
